Shopoholic takes on Manhattan

Becky is back with her credit card(s) and shopthis time around she takes Manhattan by storm. She is still on television giving finance advice to her callers, while her own finances are in a mess yet again!

The book begins in UK where she is planning a weekend trip to the country with her millionaire boyfriend Luke Brandon. Her biggest problem was what to wear at an upscale country hotel especially when Luke has specifically told her to pack light. So she just FedEx’s her clothes to the hotel but unfortunately her package gets delayed and she has to wait one extra day to get all her clothes.

I did that once when I went shopping and husband dear did not know 🙂

Luke wants to expand his PR agency in US so he is moving to US. Becky is frantic and wants to know whether this is the end of their relationship. But of course it isn’t, Luke asks her to join him and tries to get her a job in US television channels. So Becky moves to US.

Some of the most funny episodes in Becky’s life happen in this book. She meets her mother-in-law Eleanor Sherman, a cold, ice-maiden of a woman who wants her to have a bikini wax of all things. And Becky accompanies her to a party where she is mistaken to be a waitress much to her embarrassment.

Becky discovers sample sales and goes on a rampage at Barneys. Buying stuff indiscriminately she is once again in a financial mess that hits the roof and is exposed by the media. She loses her job prospects, reputation and then finally Luke.

I don’t want to reveal how she gets out of trouble in this one, but it is brilliant. And this book is more important in the series because in this one, she realizes her dream and answers her calling!

And I never thought that Suze and Tarkie would hook up so that’s a surprise but a pleasant one. On the whole, I can say that I really loved it!
